On most of their releases, WILT walks a fine line between dark ambient and death industrial.. this release sees them tip the scales all the way over the death industrial line. Harrowing, blackened noise comprised of synths, guitar, junk metal, vocals, etc. This tape sounds downright evil. Listen in the dark and listen loud. Includes a DISEMBOWELMENT cover. 50 copies.

This cassette was produced specifically for the first (and possibly only) KLIT live action on 1/7/12. Two tracks of heavy synth work, junk noise and layers of filth. Not quite power electronics, not quite industrial, but something off to the left that borrows heavily from both these styles. Probably not a good idea to buy if you're in Germany. If you caught this HNW powerhouse on their recent tour, you know what you're in for. Hot, sweaty, disgusting, brutally harsh wall noise from the bowels of the southern United States. Those of you who know me know that I'm VERY picky about wall noise…. so you should know that my recommendation of this cassette is essentially a guarantee. 50 copies.

RINGS OF SMOKE THROUGH THE TREES - Self Titled C50
This is a one time(?) live collaboration between Mark Wilson (CONURE, 15 DEGREES BELOW ZERO), Andre Custodio (NIHIL COMMUNICATION) and Thomas Dimuzio. The three got together to create an extremely interesting document-- two side long tracks of industrial noise coupled with abstract/experimental bits and a good amount of percussion, some of it almost African-influenced. Play loud and soak it in-- there's a lot going on. 50 copies.

Due to the overwhelming response to the first ever DSR Sale, I've been able to almost fully fund the next batch of releases. Also, I feel I should mention that the DETERGE cassette is sold out (though I believe malignant and RRR have copies). The HIERCHISS release has a few copies dwindling for the time being. TEAROOM TRADE and MURDEROUS VISION are about half gone...

So what's next? Well, life happens. I got laid off from my job, and I'm currently seeking employment. Obviously, since most of the funding for DSR releases comes out of my pocket, things might slow down in the future (hence the purpose of the sale) ... because of the possibility of a severe slowdown, I've decided to make this next batch a big one (incidentally, it's probably my favorite batch I've released thus far -- no offense to any artist I've ever released, of course) ... here goes:

Also, I have a very small amount of the DEATH'S BLACK HAND/ULTRA BONBON split C30 left. Here's what Holiday's Review had to say about it...

"Death’s Black Hand delivers two tracks of harsh noise- “Pain within this Shell,” starts with layers spanning from a high registered synth line that sounds like something out of an old 70′s slasher, accompanied by some tidal waves of crushing low end and some pulsating oscillation, along with other sporadic sounds breaking through the mix as well. Their second track, “Left Here to Rot,” begins immediately without a moment to spare with a loud wall of low end and quieter layers reminiscent of operating machinery on top. As the track progresses, the top layers become rather rhythmic which carries on throughout the duration, ending with just two clear and decisive layers that abruptly come to a stop.

The Ultra Bonbon side starts with “Crystal Pantry,” beginning with a shoving low end, and oscillating chirps, echoing and dwindling above, all of which eventually fades out and into a kinder synth line that works almost as some breathing room before the next track. “Spreading Spores” is a heavy hitter- starting with the same chirps as the previous, but with some wobbling layers of sound and a very heavy, echoed pulsation, which eventually slows down and introduces what may be one of the best aspects of this entire release- angry and tortured vocals. This track ends just as its predecessor, with a easy breathing synth line. The final track from Ultra Bonbon, “Bludgeon Fire” gives a seemingly sporadic low end rhythm that stops and goes with a gracious amount of vocals cut up along with it. Some higher registered sounds break through as well, but the vocals remain triumphant, concluding with a very rhythmic array of sounds.

This tape showcases two great artists with slightly different styles that compliment each other well. Having been released just recently and limited to 40 copies, it’s definitely one to grab sooner than later. I would recommend it based upon the Ultra Bonbon side alone, but as I said before, both artist compliment each other well making this a solid release and well worth any HN fan’s time."

NEWS ON UPCOMING RELEASES:

- I've recently received the masters for "Ladd" by SHARPWAIST. It's been a long time coming, and well over a year in the making, and let me tell you, this album is worth every fucking second of waiting. If you know SHARPWAIST, you know what I'm talking about... and if not, this is the perfect introduction to the artist. "Ladd" will be released as a double cassette; one C20 and one C60, in a double, side by side case.

- MURDEROUS VISION's "Salvation on Sand Mountain" is nearly complete. 70 minutes of brutal death industrial and PE, featuring guest vocals by FASCIST INSECT, NYODENE D, PRAYING FOR OBLIVION and THE VOMIT ARSONIST.

- The C20 from HIERCHISS is still in the works.

RU-486 review / status of new batch

each of the three new releases are about half gone. as of right now, RRR (US) and Molehill (Japan) will carry all the titles in their distro. Artists will also have copies, so once I'm out (which I anticipate will be next week or so), contact the above distros or the artists themselves. This is a seriously brutal set of releases from three projects that absolutely deserve to be heard.

That being said, J. over at plague haus posted a great review of the now sold out release "Disease & Development" by RU-486.

RU-486 : Disease & Development

Lately I’ve been trying to steer clear of these uber limited releases. Why waste words on something very few people are going to be able to actually own. Two reasons: 1) I think RU-486 is one of the more important artists on the current US Power Electronics scene and 2) someone may eventually re-release it or it will appear on some “greatest hits” thing and you’ll remember ole J told ya it was worth your time.

RU-486 is one of the many faces worn by Thomas Mortigan. He’s the man behind the Destructive Industries label, USBM band Octagon, a recent recruit to long-time Richard Ramirez lead Noise legend Black Leather Jesus as well as a member of several other Noise and PE projects. So as an artist, Mr. Mortigan is definitely suffering from adult ADHD. This little gem happens to be released on Danvers State, the label ran by Andy Grant of Vomit Arsonist, Bereft and several other projects. These guys seem to be forming a sort of US collective to rival the “bro scene” that seems to plague a lot of American projects and maybe will prove that there are some stateside forces that should definitely be taken seriously.

The label described this release as harkening back to the Broken Flag era of noisy industrial and really, that’s a dead on description so my review is all but a moot point. The first time the wheels began spinning on this that was exactly what I thought. Besides the vocals being a little cleaner and more audible than a lot of those projects, you could’ve slipped this one in “Axis Sally”. Side A is comprised of “Civilian Deaths Mount In The Cross Fire Of War”, a four minute gut loosening rumble and vocals so venomous they’d make Eric Wood jealous. “Revolution Fever Stirs Rural Nepal” makes up the whole of Side B, more thunderous low-end that drifts into phased out highs. I was a tiny bit disappointed this one was sans vocals, but the aggression of the track makes up for it.

My only real complaint here is I was just getting warmed up when it’s done. I’d love to hear more in this vein from RU, but he seems to be fairy prolific as of late so as long as he keeps the current level of quality control intact, all is good. Released in a clear, ziplock evidence bag with inserts as an edition of 65, it’s definitely worth tracking down.

Danvers State Recordings is the label owned and operated by The Vomit Arsonist himself. I own about half of the ten tape releases he’s issued so far and haven’t been disappointed with a single one. This one is no different. This one keeps to the old school aesthetics, no bells, whistles or spray paint…just that fine, wheeled mechanism and the sounds housed within.

Side A kicks off with my comrade and fellow Houstonian Concrete Violin. While not sacrificing on the power, this single 15 minute track is a bit more subtle than previous offerings. Bubbling static and hiss are compressed into laser point perfection. I’d say he’s invented a whole new genre here, Wall Ambient. There’s a constant rumble behind the needle thin viper slither and somewhere buried beneath it all I pick up the occasional voice of some unknown field recording or some psychotic EVP. I like this direction a lot. You don’t have to throw everything but the kitchen sink in to show some muscle.

The VA takes the reins on side B. with this tape I realized I’d been buying his releases but had never actually heard his own stuff other than with Bereft, which he’s also half of. The tape leads in with “Moth” and I am as one to a flame with big, beefy synth lines that undulate and disintegrate. I really was expecting the Death Industrial vibe and since that’s one of my favorite genres of all time, it’s a happy realization. This thing moans and groans like a French whore and sizzles like acid poured down her privates. Really subtle, heavy delayed vocals set the whole thing off. I detect a heavy Navicon Torture Tech influence and that’s never a bad thing. “Flame” is along the same lines, but more influence on the vocals, lot more disintegration of sound and some feedback throw in for fun. I like it, but “Moth” is definitely my favorite of the two.

As mentioned above, standard plastic box issue and j-card, but four slightly different covers. Limited to just 44 copies, I believe it's sold out from the label, but there might be a few distros out there still carrying it. It's worth tracking down.

the LOVE IS NOTHING./C.I.R. split is selling VERY FAST... within one day of release, i've only got about 20 copies left. get them now before it's too late, i don't know if this thing will see a repress.....

thank you to all the people and distros who ordered copies. you've got an amazing release coming your way, and you're keeping me busy with trips to the post office ... the stack of packages i have to ship is growing by the hour.

soon, DSR titles will be available for purchase through FORCE OF NATURE ... just another place to grab em. stop by the store over there for other industrial/noise/dark ambient CD's, LP's, etc. FoN is good people.

LOVE IS NOTHING. (ex-NTT, THEOLOGIAN) presents "Dedicated to Megan Wright," inspired by Megan Wright, a gang rape victim who went on to commit suicide. Uncomfortable drones and bleak, industrial noise... exactly what we've come to expect from Leech, but taken in a slightly altered direction.

C.I.R. is an excorcism of 30 years of personal demons, culminated into rape, schizophrenia, religious fanaticism, and various forms of emotional torture. The four songs were recorded live in front of a small audience in Boston, MA. A truly uncomfortable and haunting experience, utilizing sound collage, Boyd Rice inspired delays, militant percussion, and wall of sound PE.

Edition of 50. three full color inserts included-- one for each artist, and one containing notes on Megan Wright and the C.I.R. performance.

I'm finalizing the artwork for the LOVE IS NOTHING./C.I.R. split release. Once I get approval from the artists that the artwork is acceptable, and i gather a little bit of cash, it'll be ready to go.

The next releases on the front burner include a C30 from the UK's CONTENT NULLITY. According to CN, writing for the release "Despondancy Overdose" will begin soon, and if his previous output is any indictation, . Here's a few words about his "Rotting Walls of Decaying Sound" 3" CD-R, available from Scrape Tapes ...

"...This tiny mini-CD contains 20 minutes of dark insanity that starts like a wound, falls in a super-medicated spiral through hell, and then finishes with the death convulsions – displaying them in all their violence and grotesqueries...

The other release will be a split between Houston, TX harsh noise master CONCRETE VIOLIN and Providence, RI's self-loathing power electronics artist THE VOMIT ARSONIST.

Not sure which will come first, but it doesn't matter, as both releases will kill.
